Carol grew up on the Armidale mission and most of her immediate family still live on the mission or in the Armidale township.
For Carol, empowering the community where she grew up is one of the central tenets behind her new business and it was extremely important to her that her business, Murawin, was launched in her home community.
Although now based in Queensland, Carol continues to work extensively in NSW (including Armidale) and across the country. Murawin, a Dunghutti word meaning "to be educated", is a collaborative partnership between Carol and her partner Greg Mckenzie through which they seek to break cycles of disadvantage through empowering Indigenous people and those working with Indigenous people to improve outcomes. is a -based firm is all about breaking cycles of disadvantage by promoting opportunities for Aboriginal people.
