Attending the Australasian Facilitators Network Conference Marelin Yarning All Ways

Last month, Carol attended and presented at the 2017 Australasian Facilitators Network Conference at Stanwell Tops, NSW. Carol is an active member of the network and this year volunteered her time to head up the Conference organising committee.

The theme of this years conference was close to our hearts here at Murawin; focussing on highlighting the power of embedding Indigenous-informed principles into the practice of facilitation. We were lucky enough to have Yuin Elder Uncle Max Harrison give a beautiful and moving Acknowledgment To Country and Cleansing Ceremony to open the conference, which truly set the tone for a wonderful and meaningful event.

There was an incredible array of workshops at the conference, including Carol running one on the Makarrata and the role that facilitators can play in raising awareness of constitutional recognition. The workshops were complemented by Yarning Circles and a range of cultural activities. It was a great opportunity to network with fellow Facilitators and explore ways of improving our facilitation skills through strengthening intercultural processes. We very much look forward to the 2018 Conference!
